In 1980s England, Canon Daniel Clement, the Rector of Champton, finds himself unexpectedly entangled in a murder case when a dead body turns up in the church. When Daniel announces a plan to modernize the church, the parish is suddenly divided. And then a body is found dead at the back of the church. As the police move in and the bodies start piling up, Daniel is the only one who can try and keep his fractured community together... and catch a killer.

After getting hauled away from a hospital protest, Daniel finds himself facing off with DS Vanloo at a local pub. The detective presses Daniel on his questionable decision-making, probing him about those ominous letters that have been showing up. Meanwhile, Vanloo hints that Ned might be behind it all, but he's got nothing concrete to pin it on yet.
Daniel bursts into Alex de Floures studio, accusing him of forging his late father Bernard's artwork. Alex looks taken aback by Daniel's sudden revelation, struggling to maintain a composed demeanor as the truth comes to light.

Alex shares their artistic side with Bernard by showing them a rough but honest painting. The raw creative expression reveals Alex's vulnerability and willingness to open up to Bernard.
