The Stunt Driver Soundtrack (2026): All Songs & Scene Music Guide
Based on the true story of Montrealer Ken Carter, the “Mad Canadian” stunt driver who tried to jump the Saint Lawrence River in a rocket car in the mid-’70s. Carter's dream was to end his 30-year career with a big jump, a big paycheck, and mega stardom. In the process of accomplishing it, he hired a big sports manager and enlisted the best in rocket car design, with the National Film Board of Canada filming a documentary leading up to the event.
Directed by Michael Dowse (Goon, FUBAR), the 2026 biographical comedy-drama The Stunt Driver chronicles the wild ambition of Montreal daredevil Ken Carter. Jay Baruchel stars as the relentless showman alongside Ed Helms and Ben Foster, who delivers a standout turn as rival daredevil Evel Knievel, as Carter risks everything to launch a rocket-powered vehicle across a one-mile river gap. Blending outrageous 1970s spectacle with heartfelt underdog comedy, the film features an original score by two-time Emmy-winning composer Cristóbal Tapia de Veer (The White Lotus) alongside a vintage soundtrack rooted in 70s funk, soul, and hard-driving Canadian classic rock.
Funkadelic sets the tone for Ken Carter’s wild rocket ambitions with their 1971 psychedelic soul masterpiece 'Can You Get To That', leading an authentic lineup of vintage seventies groove. New Orleans funk icon Allen Toussaint adds swagger with 'Goin' Down', while Canadian rock legends Crowbar supply high-voltage energy with their 1971 anthem 'Oh What a Feeling' as the crew builds the massive jump ramp. In the film's final act and closing credits, Graham Nash’s introspective 'Better Days' and Montreal rock hero Michel Pagliaro’s 'Lovin' You Ain't Easy' ground Carter's relentless pursuit in bittersweet nostalgia, rounded out by deep-cut Zambian fuzz rock from Chrissy Zebby Tembo and the warm gospel-soul of The Supreme Jubilees.
