The Love Hypothesis Soundtrack (2026): Every Song

Directed by Claire Scanlon (Set It Up), the 2026 romantic comedy The Love Hypothesis brings Ali Hazelwood's beloved New York Times best-selling novel to life on the screen. Starring Lili Reinhart as third-year biology Ph.D. candidate Olive Smith and Tom Bateman as notoriously stern professor Dr. Adam Carlsen, the film chronicles their chaotic journey from an impulsive hallway kiss into a high-stakes fake-dating agreement at Stanford University. Balancing sharp academic humor with undeniable romantic chemistry, the film's sonic atmosphere is masterfully crafted by veteran music supervisor Julia Michels (Pitch Perfect, A Star Is Born) and an original orchestral score from Academy Award-nominated composer Laura Karpman (American Fiction, The Marvels).

The commercial soundtrack for The Love Hypothesis acts as an emotional pulse for Olive and Adam's evolving feelings, blending modern pop confessionals, upbeat indie gems, and nostalgic 80s hooks. The musical journey kicks off with Gracie Abrams' vibrant single 'Mess It Up' as Olive navigates graduate life, while the pivotal, passionate scene between Olive and Adam is set to the sultry duet 'Cowboy' by Selena Gomez and benny blanco. The film’s energetic campus banter and Fluchella scenes are supercharged by The Go-Go's 1984 classic 'Head over Heels', accompanied by resonant cuts like HAIM's 'Gone', Real Estate's breezy 'It's Real', and Lucius' heartfelt ballad 'Until We Get There'.
