Anyone But You Soundtrack (2023): Every Song

Director Will Gluck bases Anyone But You (2023) on Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, turning the classic play into a sunny Australia-set romantic comedy. Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell play Bea and Ben, two people who hit it off on a great first date in Boston before an awkward morning misunderstanding makes them bitter enemies. When Bea's sister and Ben's close friend get engaged, the two are forced to share a flight to Sydney for the wedding. Tired of relatives trying to push them back together and eager to make their exes jealous, they agree to pretend they are dating for the week. The fake romance predictably gets messy as they trade insults, survive boat accidents, and try to ignore that they actually like each other.

Much of the attention around the movie centers on Natasha Bedingfield's 2004 track "Unwritten". Early in the film, Ben admits he sings the song to calm his nerves whenever he gets anxious on planes, calling it his serenity song. The track pops up several times across the story, culminating in a full singalong by the cast in the closing credits. The rest of the playlist balances throwback radio hits with modern indie cuts. Mac Miller brings a party atmosphere with "The Spins", while Olivia Rodrigo lands on the soundtrack with "bad idea right?". Viewers also hear Troye Sivan on "Got Me Started", Wet Leg on "Loving You", Remi Wolf on "Photo ID", and Declan McKenna on "Sympathy". In between the licensed tracks, Este Haim and Christopher Stracey provide the instrumental score, using acoustic guitars and light strings that fit the beach setting.
