John Coltrane
John Coltrane (1926–1967) was a monumental American jazz saxophonist and composer who transformed modern jazz through his intense "sheets of sound" technique, pioneering work in modal jazz, and deep exploration of free jazz. Born in North Carolina, he moved to Philadelphia, served in the Navy, and rose to prominence in the 1950s with Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk before leading his own influential quartet. Known for his spiritual dedication, his masterwork A Love Supreme reflected his profound artistic and personal transformation. Despite his early death at 40, his innovative compositions and intense improvisations remain cornerstones of musical history
