Stranger Things: Tales from '85 Soundtrack Season 2 (2026) Guide
Stranger Things: Tales from '85
In the second season of the animated series Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, the young Hawkins crew returns to their normal lives of arcade gaming during the winter of 1985, only to be disrupted by a bizarre new supernatural threat. As Valentine's Day approaches, mysterious iridescent flowers with a dark secret begin popping up all over town alongside eerie "ghostly" apparitions and a swarm of destructive hate sprites. To stop these paranormal occurrences, Dustin, Eleven, Mike, Will, Lucas, Max, and Nikki must join forces as the Hawkins Investigators Club. Their dangerous investigation leads them deep into unexplored territories, including a dark, hidden Hawkins mine, where they must uncover the true origin of this growing ecosystem before a new gate to the Upside Down is ripped wide open.
Creator Eric Robles brings the young Hawkins crew back for a second season of Netflix's animated spinoff Stranger Things: Tales from '85. Set during the snowy winter of 1985, the story picks up as Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max try to enjoy quiet days at the Palace Arcade ahead of Valentine's Day. Normalcy does not last long when glowing paranormal flora and eerie apparitions begin spreading across town. Teaming up with local tinkerer Nikki Baxter as the Hawkins Investigators Club, the kids descend into an abandoned local mine to trace a fresh infestation before another tear into the Upside Down exposes the town to new horrors.
Classic new wave, post-punk, and eighties radio pop drive the energy of the season, capturing the arcade culture and suburban dread that define the Stranger Things universe. New Order sets a pulsating tempo for the official trailer with their genre-defining 1983 dance-rock anthem "Blue Monday". Inside the episodes, the tracklist highlights British sophisti-pop from ABC with "Poison Arrow" at the arcade, paired with Love and Rockets' moody post-punk favorite "Haunted When the Minutes Drag". Action sequences get an adrenaline boost from Patty Smyth on the rock classic "The Warrior", while acoustic folk-punk from Violent Femmes on "Good Feeling" and bright ska-pop from General Public on "Tenderness" anchor the emotional milestones of the winter. Composer Brad Breeck glues these needle drops together with vintage analog synth themes that pay homage to classic eighties adventure cinema.

Nostalgia for 1985 works especially well in animated form, giving the show freedom to explore strange creature designs while keeping its musical roots firmly planted in Saturday-morning energy. Upbeat synth basslines keep the pace light during bike chases and arcade hangouts, only to fade into cold, ominous hums whenever the kids step into the freezing tunnels beneath Hawkins. Fans of the flagship Netflix series get a fun, fast-moving winter mystery where every cassette tape and radio broadcast feels like a genuine artifact from the golden age of mid-eighties pop.
