The Social Reckoning Soundtrack (2026): Every Song

More than a decade after the cultural earthquake of The Social Network, Aaron Sorkin returns to the battlefield of Silicon Valley with his 2026 corporate thriller The Social Reckoning. Turning its lens toward the modern era of Big Tech whistleblowing, the drama chronicles the real-world fallout surrounding the explosive "Facebook Papers" leak, focusing on disillusioned data scientist Frances Haugen (portrayed by Mikey Madison) as she chooses to risk her freedom to expose how algorithm manipulation prioritizes profit over user safety. In an intense war of corporate espionage and journalistic integrity, Haugen teams up with Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz (Jeremy Allen White), facing relentless institutional pushback from top Meta executives and an increasingly isolated CEO Mark Zuckerberg (played by Jeremy Strong). Sorkin brings his trademark staccato dialogue and rapid-fire pacing to the Silicon Valley boardroom, crafting an urgent legal and moral reckoning for the social media age.

The promotional music rollout for The Social Reckoning pays deliberate homage to the cinematic legacy of its predecessor while forging a bold, chaotic new sonic identity. The initial teaser trailer sparked widespread excitement by incorporating Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’s iconic, melancholy piano-driven theme "Hand Covers Bruise"—the Oscar-winning heartbeat of the original 2010 film. In contrast, the high-octane official theatrical trailer shifts gears dramatically with the sweeping gospel-punk intensity of Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ 2013 alternative rock anthem "Sacrilege." Building from Karen O’s haunting opening verses to an explosive wall of choral sound, the needle drop perfectly encapsulates the existential dread, public outcry, and institutional betrayal at the core of Haugen's historic leak.
