The Verve was a famous British rock band formed in Wigan, England, in 1990 by singer Richard Ashcroft, guitarist Nick McCabe, bassist Simon Jones, and drummer Peter Salisbury. They started by playing dreamy psychedelic music and shoegaze rock before finding huge success in the late 1990s Britpop scene. The band became a global sensation with their 1997 hit album Urban Hymns on Wikipedia
