The Swingle Singers
The Swingle Singers, formed by Ward Swingle in Paris in 1962, are a renowned a cappella vocal group, famous for blending classical music (especially Bach) with jazz through scat singing and vocal imitation, winning multiple Grammy Awards and maintaining a legacy of reinvention with new members and diverse genres. Originally session singers, they found fame with Jazz Sebastian Bach, leading to international success before Ward moved to England, reformed the group (Swingle II, The New Swingle Singers), and passed the baton, with the current London-based ensemble continuing to explore pop, folk, and original material while honoring their innovative roots.
