
The Monks
The Monks were an influential American proto-punk/garage rock band formed in 1964 by GIs in West Germany, known for their experimental, rhythm-heavy sound, anti-war lyrics, and shocking monk-like habits and tonsures. Self-proclaimed "anti-Beatles," they gained cult status for hits like "I Hate You" before disbanding in 1967.
