As Jonathan drives, he's struck by a familiar tune that instantly brings back memories of his friend Will. Later, when Joyce enters Will's room, she's surprised to find the song still playing on the stereo, a haunting reminder of what once was.

Joyce puts on the song and attempts to have it out with her son. As the music plays, she confronts him about his recent behavior, hoping the emotional lyrics will help get through to him.

Nancy tells her mom she's spending the night at Stacey's, then heads out to meet up with Jonathan.

Jonathan plays a meaningful song with Will, bringing back memories of their friendship. Meanwhile, Chief Hopper works to decipher a message in Morse code, with Dustin, Lucas, and Max providing discreet assistance.
