SZA

American singer-songwriter SZA (born Solána Imani Rowe on November 8, 1989) is a leading figure in contemporary R&B, celebrated for her "diaristic" songwriting and genre-blurring sound that incorporates elements of soul, hip-hop, and indie rock. Raised in Maplewood, New Jersey, in a Muslim household, she initially pursued marine biology before dropping out of college to focus on music, eventually becoming the first female artist signed to the independent label Top Dawg Entertainment. She rose to global prominence with her 2017 debut album, Ctrl, which earned universal acclaim for its raw vulnerability and established her as a voice for a generation of young women. SZA solidified her superstar status with the record-breaking success of her sophomore album, SOS (2022), which spent ten weeks at number one on the Billboard 200 and spawned the chart-topping hit "Kill Bill".
