Stillwater
Stillwater was a Georgia-based Southern rock band active primarily from 1973 to 1982, best remembered for their bluesy dual-guitar sound and the 1977 hit single "Mind Bender". Formed in Warner Robins by guitarists Mike Causey and Bobby Golden, along with vocalist Jimmy Hall, the group released two albums on Capricorn Records—Stillwater (1977) and I Reserve the Right! (1978)—before the label folded. While they never achieved mainstream stardom, they were a reputable live act that toured with groups like the Atlanta Rhythm Section and the Charlie Daniels Band. Despite breaking up in the early 1980s, they later reformed with drummer David Heck to release Runnin' Free in 1996, and they are sometimes noted for granting Cameron Crowe permission to use their name for the fictional band in the film Almost Famous.
