Soundgarden

Soundgarden was an influential American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1984 by frontman Chris Cornell, guitarist Kim Thayil, and bassist Hiro Yamamoto, later solidifying its classic lineup with drummer Matt Cameron and bassist Ben Shepherd. As pioneering architects of the grunge movement, they uniquely fused heavy metal riffs, punk ethos, and unorthodox time signatures, making history in 1988 as the first grunge band to sign with a major record label (A&M Records). The group achieved massive mainstream success with their 1994 multi-platinum masterpiece, Superunknown, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and earned Grammy Awards for the iconic singles "Black Hole Sun" and "Spoonman".
