Simon & Garfunkel
Simon & Garfunkel were a highly influential American folk-rock duo comprising singer-songwriter Paul Simon and singer Art Garfunkel, who rose to fame in the 1960s as one of the era's best-selling acts. Childhood friends from Queens, NY, they achieved major success with iconic hits like "The Sound of Silence," "Mrs. Robinson," and "Bridge over Troubled Water," characterized by Simon's literate songwriting and their tight harmonies. Despite their massive commercial success and multiple Grammy Awards, the pair experienced a strained relationship, leading to their breakup in 1970. They reunited for several acclaimed projects, including the famous 1981 Central Park concert, and were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.
