Rufus Wainwright (born 1973) is a Canadian-American singer-songwriter and composer known for his baroque-pop sound, operatic vocals, and theatrical style. Son of folk icons Kate McGarrigle and Loudon Wainwright III, he gained fame for his 1998 debut, blending pop, classical, and cabaret influences across numerous albums and operas.
