Miles Davis (1926–1991) was an iconic American jazz trumpeter, bandleader, and composer who revolutionized jazz multiple times over five decades, from bebop and cool jazz to modal and fusion. A Juilliard dropout, he famously led ensembles featuring legends like John Coltrane and Wayne Shorter. His 1959 masterpiece Kind of Blue remains the best-selling jazz album ever.
