Low was an influential American indie rock band from Duluth, Minnesota, formed in 1993 by husband-and-wife duo Alan Sparhawk (guitar/vocals) and Mimi Parker (drums/vocals), known for pioneering the "slowcore" genre with their minimalist, slow-tempo sound, haunting harmonies, and exploration of faith and darker themes, disbanding after Parker's passing from ovarian cancer in 2022. Their music, characterized by sparse arrangements and intense emotional depth, evolved from quiet melancholy to include moments of noise and dissonance, making them a singular force in indie rock for nearly three decades.
