Le Tigre
Le Tigre is an influential American electronic punk (electro-punk) band formed in 1998 in New York City by Kathleen Hanna (formerly of Bikini Kill), Johanna Fateman, and Sadie Benning. Known for blending lo-fi electronic beats with witty, unapologetic feminist and queer political lyrics, the trio—later featuring JD Samson replacing Benning in 2000—bridged the gap between DIY riot grrrl punk and dance music. Renowned for energetic live performances with multimedia elements, they released notable albums like their 1999 self-titled debut and This Island (2004) before going on hiatus, leaving a lasting legacy in activist-pop culture.
