
Johnny Thunder
Gilbert "Gil" Hamilton (1931-2024), known as Johnny Thunder, was an American R&B/pop singer famous for his 1963 #4 hit "Loop de Loop," a fun take on a children's song, who also had early recording success with "Tell Her" (later a hit for The Exciters) and "Move & Groove," performed with groups like The Drifters, and worked as a backup singer before his iconic novelty hit. He passed away in September 2024 at age 93, having continued performing on cruise ships in his later years.
