John Cale

John Cale (born 1942, Wales) is a foundational Welsh composer, musician, and producer renowned for co-founding The Velvet Underground, where his experimental, avant-garde viola work and drone techniques helped define their sound. After leaving the band in 1968, he pursued a prolific, diverse solo career, producing landmark albums like Paris 1919 and producing for artists such as Patti Smith and The Stooges.
