Japanese Breakfast
Japanese Breakfast is the indie pop project of Korean-American musician Michelle Zauner, known for weaving themes of grief, identity, and food into her music and writing, particularly after her mother's death from cancer, a journey documented in her bestselling memoir Crying in H Mart and albums like Psychopomp (2016), Soft Sounds from Another Planet (2017), and Jubilee (2021). Starting in 2013, Zauner developed the project while dealing with her mother's illness, using songwriting as a coping mechanism, and has since become a Grammy-nominated artist celebrated for her poignant storytelling and exploration of her heritage.
