Interpol is an influential American indie/post-punk rock band from New York City, formed in 1997, known for their atmospheric sound, deep baritone vocals (Paul Banks), rhythmic guitars (Daniel Kessler), bass (Carlos Dengler/Bradford Cox/Brandon Curtis), and precise drums (Sam Fogarino), rising to fame with their acclaimed debut Turn on the Bright Lights (2002) and becoming key figures in the early 2000s NYC scene, often compared to Joy Division.
