H.E.R., born Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson on June 27, 1997, in Vallejo, California, is a critically acclaimed American R&B singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist known for her enigmatic persona, soulful vocals, and mastery of instruments like the guitar and piano. A former child prodigy who performed at a young age, she re-emerged in 2016 under the stage name H.E.R. (an acronym for "Having Everything Revealed"), releasing a series of EPs that garnered widespread acclaim for their vulnerability and atmospheric sound. Her artistic brilliance has earned her numerous accolades, including five Grammy Awards, notably Best R&B Album for her self-titled compilation and Song of the Year for "I Can't Breathe", as well as an Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Fight for You" from Judas and the Black Messiah.
