DMX (Earl Simmons; December 18, 1970 – April 9, 2021) was an American rapper, songwriter, and actor known for his raw, aggressive style and deep, gritty voice. Rising from a troubled childhood in Yonkers, NY, he became a dominant force in hip-hop in the late 1990s and early 2000s, famously becoming the first artist to have his first five albums debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
