CHVRCHES

CHVRCHES (stylized CHVRCHΞS) is a Scottish synth-pop band formed in Glasgow in 2011, consisting of vocalists and multi-instrumentalists Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook, and Martin Doherty. Emerging from the city's indie scene, they gained immediate attention with their 2013 debut album, The Bones of What You Believe, which featured hit singles "The Mother We Share" and "Recover" and was ranked fifth on the BBC's Sound of 2013 list. Known for a unique, self-produced blend of dark, anthemic synth-pop and sparkling indie melodies, the trio has consistently delivered critically acclaimed, synth-driven music, including the albums Every Open Eye (2015), Love Is Dead (2018), and the pandemic-created Screen Violence (2021). Throughout their career, CHVRCHES has maintained a strong, independent identity while touring globally and, on occasion, incorporating outside influences like producer Greg Kurstin.
