Formed in 1967 on Long Island, New York, Blue Öyster Cult (BÖC) is a seminal American hard rock band known for combining heavy metal with occult, sci-fi, and intellectual lyrics. Originally emerging from the Stony Brook University scene as Soft White Underbelly, the group, managed by Sandy Pearlman, evolved through several names before settling on BÖC in 1971. Known for hits like "(Don't Fear) The Reaper," "Godzilla," and "Burnin' for You," the band has sold over 24 million records, with a lineup historically featuring Buck Dharma and Eric Bloom.
