Born in Kinloch, Missouri, in 1947, Ann Peebles became a defining voice of 1970s Memphis Soul through Hi Records, best known for her signature 1973 hit "I Can't Stand the Rain". Rising from gospel roots, her gritty, emotional vocals and collaborations with producer Willie Mitchell and husband Don Bryant secured her legacy in R&B history.
