a-ha
A-ha is a Norwegian synth-pop trio formed in Oslo in 1982 by vocalist Morten Harket, guitarist Pål Waaktaar-Savoy, and keyboardist Magne Furuholmen, who achieved global stardom in 1985 with their iconic hit "Take On Me" and its groundbreaking, rotoscoped music video. Known for their blend of melancholy melodies, catchy synth-pop hooks, and Harket’s distinctive falsetto, the band released their highly successful debut album, Hunting High and Low, and continued to produce hits throughout the 1980s, including "The Sun Always Shines on T.V." and the James Bond theme "The Living Daylights". Despite a hiatus in the 1990s and occasional breakups, the band has continued to record and tour for over four decades, releasing their latest album, True North, in 2022. With over 100 million records sold worldwide and a reputation for massive live performances, a-ha remains one of the most successful Norwegian music acts, cementing their legacy in the synth-pop and new wave genres.
