Kristen Carroll Wiig (born August 22, 1973) is an acclaimed American actress, comedian, and screenwriter who first rose to prominence as a versatile cast member on Saturday Night Live (2005–2012), where her quirky characters and impressions earned her four consecutive Emmy nominations. After moving to Los Angeles to join the improv troupe The Groundlings, she achieved mainstream movie stardom by co-writing and starring in the 2011 hit Bridesmaids, which garnered her an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. Her prolific career includes lead and supporting roles in diverse films such as The Martian, Ghostbusters, and Wonder Woman 1984, alongside voice work for major franchises like Despicable Me. More recently, she has continued to expand her influence as a producer and star of the critically acclaimed series Palm Royale.
