Cate Blanchett
Born in 1969 in Melbourne, Cate Blanchett is widely regarded as one of the most versatile and accomplished actors of her generation. After graduating from Australia’s National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in 1992, she rose to international prominence with her Academy Award-nominated performance in Elizabeth (1998). Over her prolific career, she has won two Academy Awards—Best Supporting Actress for portraying Katharine Hepburn in The Aviator (2004) and Best Actress for Blue Jasmine (2013)—making her the only Australian to win two acting Oscars. Her extensive filmography ranges from major blockbusters like The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Thor: Ragnarok to acclaimed character studies in Carol and Tár. Beyond her on-screen success, Blanchett is a dedicated theatre veteran who served as the co-artistic director of the Sydney Theatre Company and is a prominent UNHCR Global Goodwill Ambassador advocating for refugee rights.
