Amanda Michelle Seyfried (born December 3, 1985) is an award-winning American actress and singer who first gained international fame as the dim-witted Karen Smith in the 2004 cult classic Mean Girls. Born and raised in Allentown, Pennsylvania, she began her career as a child model at age 11 before transitioning into acting through recurring roles on daytime soap operas like As the World Turns. Her versatile career spans multiple genres, including major musical hits such as Mamma Mia! (2008) and Les Misérables (2012), alongside dramatic television work in HBO’s Big Love.
